Our story

Engineers from Tamil Nadu. Building for our own.

Every engineering college in Tamil Nadu shares the same intelligence problem. We built the platform shaped for it.

Why we built this

The gap was obvious from inside.

Students were already using unsanctioned AI from their phones. Faculty were spending afternoons compiling reports by hand. Institutional documents were leaving the campus one upload at a time, and nobody owned the answers coming back.

None of that was a technology problem. The models were good enough. What did not exist was an intelligence platform shaped for how Tamil Nadu's engineering colleges actually operate — their departments, their circulars, their regulations, their hierarchy. We built Merzal Labs to close that gap.

“500+ colleges facing the same problem — and no product built for any of them.”

Tamil Nadu — over 500 engineering colleges, 2 million+ students. Merzal Labs is the first platform built entirely for this context.

What we hold to

Four commitments we would rather lose a deal than break

Being local is not a differentiator on its own. These are the decisions that actually shape what we will and will not ship.

Privacy is architecture, not paperwork

We would rather lose a deal than secure it with a clause. If a guarantee cannot be enforced by where the system runs and how access is decided, we do not present it as a guarantee.

The institution owns what it builds

Your documents, index and embeddings are yours, exportable in an open format without negotiation. A knowledge base you would lose by leaving is a knowledge base you never really owned.

An answer without a source is not an answer

Every response cites the institutional document behind it. That is what makes a wrong answer correctable instead of merely embarrassing.

One institution at a time

Each deployment is isolated to a single college and shaped around how that college actually operates. We would rather deploy carefully into a few institutions than thinly into many.

Where we are today

Early, and saying so plainly

We would rather you knew our exact stage before a demo than discovered it afterwards. The first deployment is scheduled, not yet running, and we are not going to describe it as anything else.

First deployment
Mailam Engineering College
Department
Artificial Intelligence & Data Science
Stage
Pilot deployment begins next month
Pilot slots
Limited number open in Tamil Nadu

What that means for you: an early pilot gets named engineers and real influence over how the platform develops. If you need a vendor with a decade of references, we are not that yet.

Our vision

Where Merzal Labs is going next.

Every college in Tamil Nadu

500+ institutions, each with a private, fully branded deployment.

Expand across India

The same challenges exist in every state. Merzal Labs scales one institution at a time.

Intelligence identity layer

A platform that evolves with each college and becomes part of its brand for decades.

The platform those deployments run on is described in full on the platform page, and the boundaries it holds to on the security model.
